Review & Story :
Thank God movie 2022 is a Indian-Hindi movie which is releasing on 25th October 2022 directed by Indra Kumar. It's a official remake of Norwegian film Sorte Kugler, and stars Ajay Devgan, Siddharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh.
Ayaan (Sidharth Malhotra) is a hard-on-luck but self centered and egoistic real estate guy who meets with a car accident and reaches to Heaven, where he meets Chitragupta (Ajay Devgan) who tells him that a game of life will be played here, If he wins, he will be returned to Earth, If he loses, he will be sent to hell (depending on deeds).
Firstly, the movie leads by Ayaan Kapoor (Sidharth Malhotra) who is a successful but amoral real estate agent who has a debt and needs to sell his property to repay it. As he struggles to crack a deal and finds a way for payment, he often takes out his stress on his cop wife, Ruhi Kapoor (Rakul Preet Singh). In a scene, on his daughter's birthday, he recieved a call and he is rushing to meet a client for deal, Ayaan meets with an car accident and reaches to Heaven consciously, where he will be judged by deeds.
Director Indra Kumar sets out a message about karma without making the narrative too heavy or dark. Chitragupt (Ajay Devgn), Yamdoot (Mahesh Balraj) and apsaras are given modern avatars to make viewing more relatable. There are references to Devgn’s superhit movies Singham and a nod to Kaun Banega Crorepati. The premise is mostly dialogue-driven but adding flashbacks, encounters with Yamdoot and apsaras, and ‘lifelines’ breaks the monotony. .
Although Ajay Devgn plays his part as Chitragupta and sets out a exam for Ayaan (Siddharth Malhotra) and decides whether he sent to hell or earth , the role is too simplistic and easy for a actor like him. Siddharth performs earnestly as the self-absorbed and unprincipled man, but things would have been more fascinating if his character had more depth to make the decision more gripping. Rakul Preet Singh, as his supportive and more talented wife, is decent. Senior actors Kanwaljeet Singh and Seema Pahwa have cameo appearances as Ayaan’s (Siddharth Malhotra) parents but display their acting chops.
The story is remake of Norwegian film Sorte Kugler and oversimplified but the movie makes for an easy and worthful to watch the role of karma. It might find favor with audiences who want a clean entertainer, as the film has a message or two about moving on about tribulations, being humane means managing personal and professional problems by courage believes in god and the importance of one’s family.
